Trends in Vegetation Ordinances across the Southern United States

Vegetation regulations or ordinances are the local laws that govern policies surrounding urban trees and landscape management. The complexity of areas, within mosaic private public vegetation, necessitates regulation to manage numerous benefits vegetation. As populations continue increase, governing vegetation become increasingly common. This article presents an analysis language provisions communities across southern United States by using data from Municode, a database ordinances, employing content analysis. Findings demonstrate both similarities variations in ordinance while identifying limitations such as unclear provisions, lack essential duplications, section contradictions. Overall, findings suggest need improve design, content, clarity therein, so they can have more positive impact on community green infrastructure. useful for foresters, arborists, planners, elected officials efforts develop revise codes.
